Urban Farming and Vertical Gardens
Bôi đen đoạn văn để tô màu hoặc gạch chân
As cities grow denser, urban farming has emerged as a way to bring fresh produce closer to where people live. Rooftop gardens, community plots, and vertical farms built inside converted warehouses are allowing city dwellers to grow vegetables and herbs without needing large plots of land.
Vertical farms, in particular, use stacked layers of crops grown under artificial light, often with hydroponic systems that deliver nutrients directly through water rather than soil. This approach can produce food year-round, regardless of outdoor weather conditions, and typically uses significantly less water than traditional farming.
Critics point out that the energy required to power artificial lighting can be substantial, and vertical farms remain more expensive to build than conventional farms. Supporters believe that as renewable energy becomes cheaper, urban farming will play an increasingly important role in feeding growing city populations.
